Growing up my father always kept shoe trees in his best shoes. As a product of the baby boomer or disposable footwear generation, I never picked up on the importance until later when I started only buying quality footwear from manufacturers like Alden, Redwing, Thorogood, and Cole Haan. Now I rotate my shoes and boots to give them a chance to dry out between wearing.  And when I take them off after wearing them all day, I always put in a pair of shoe trees to keep them in their original shape.
